ABOUT JACK

Based in Brisbane - Australia, I’m a communications professional with strong experience in digital content creation, integrated marketing campaigns, media and public relations.

In a past life I was a music journalist and a left-handed guitarist for an indie-rock band that never quite made it.

I have almost a decade of experience planning, implementing and managing hyper-local to national publicity campaigns, journalistic storytelling and social media management as well as video and photography content production.

Currently, I'm the Social Media Manager of the Leukaemia Foundation. Best known for their annual fundraising campaign in March - the World's Greatest Shave - I'm the go-to guru for all things social media content and strategy for departments across the national organisation.

Before the world of blood cancer, I was the Marketing and Social Media Manager of the Brisbane Tigers Rugby League Football ClubManaging a small team acting as an in-house agency for four business groups, I lead the strategic approach and execution of public-facing communications to bring the club's marketing activities to life.

The Tigers compete in the Queensland Cup, and the club is bidding for the next NRL licence.

Previously, I was the senior Digital Content Officer for Ipswich City Council. I prepared and published video, image and written content for Council's digital and print platforms as well as coordinated content for Council's primary social media channels and communities.

I also prepared media releases and conducted proactive media pitching to support Council initiatives, programs and events.

Before local government, I was the Content Creator of Exclusive Tyre Distributors and reluctant stuntman on 4WD TV (watch from 13:50).

I created a wide range of digital content and managed social media content and communities for three national brands - Cooper Tyres, Mickey Thompson Tyres and Terrafirma Tyres. I also managed our ‘Influencer’/Brand Ambassador partnerships.

Before tyres, I was the National Media and Social Media Officer for GIVIT.org.au, an online charity that's similar to 'Gumtree' but helps people in need with simple and everyday items many of us can spare.

I've worked in several media, social media and communications roles for a variety of organisations, industries and projects.

I also ran my own publicity consultancy (Pompadour PR) for emerging musicians.
